Das Mineral ist der Hauptbestandteil von Kalkstein und Marmor und bildet sich in sediment\u00e4ren, metamorphen und magmatischen Umgebungen. Seine Farbe reicht von farblos und wei\u00df bis gelb, gr\u00fcn, rosa, rot und braun, je nach den vorhandenen Verunreinigungen.<\/p>\n Gro\u00dfe Calcitvorkommen gibt es in Mexiko, Island, den Vereinigten Staaten und Rum\u00e4nien.
