Pietersite<\/a> is a fibrous, breccia-like variety of quartz with inclusions of amphiboles, such as crocidolite. It is known for its vibrant chatoyance and dynamic colour patterns in shades of blue, gold, reddish-brown and sometimes grey or black. Due to its fractured and re-cemented appearance, pietersite is also known as \"stormstone\".<\/p>\n Pietersite was first discovered in Namibia in 1962 and later in China. The stone is formed when fibrous minerals such as tiger's eye are broken, moved and re-hardened within quartz by geological processes. Its chemical base is SiO\u2082, and its hardness is between 6.5 and 7 on the Mohs scale.<\/p>\n Sources: <\/strong> Our necklaces are available in various designs, including faceted, ball, split and knotted necklaces. Currently, all necklaces in our range are 45 cm long, which corresponds to a standard wearing length for most neck sizes. The beads or slivers used vary in shape and finish, giving each necklace a unique character. <\/p>\n The bead size varies depending on the type of chain, from around 4 mm in finer models to around 8 mm in the somewhat coarser versions. For split necklaces, uneven pieces of stone are used, with the split used varying from 5 to 10 mm, giving a natural look.
