Moonstone<\/a> is a shimmering variety of feldspar, known for the optical effect called adularescence - a soft, luminous glow just below the surface of the stone. The colour ranges from colourless to white, peach, grey or blue, often with a characteristic sheen.<\/p>\n Major deposits include Sri Lanka, India, Madagascar and Myanmar. Moonstone belongs to the orthoclase and albite group within the feldspars, with the chemical formula KAlSi\u2083O\u2088.
