Black tourmaline is the most common variety within the tourmaline group. The mineral is recognisable by its deep black colour and the characteristic vertical lines and grooves that may occur naturally within the crystals.
Tourmaline belongs to a group of borosilicate minerals and is found, amongst other places, in pegmatites and metamorphic rocks. Black tourmaline is found in various parts of the world, including Brazil, Africa and the United States.
These pieces have been cut and polished to a point. The natural textures, variations in colour and any inclusions mean that each piece has its own unique character.
