Deze Agaat is doorgezaagd, gepolijst en geplaatst op een zwarte gecoate standaard. Wij hebben drie varianten in ons assortiment: Agaat Geode op Standaard, Agaat Eind op Standaard en Agaat op Standaard.
An Agate Geode usually has an opening with visible crystal formation. An Agate End (the end piece of a geode) is usually solid and has no opening, but may very occasionally contain slight crystal formation. The Agate on Standard is completely solid and therefore generally looks more monotonous than an Agate End.
Small imperfections or light scratches on the black stand cannot always be avoided.
Agate
Agaat is een veelkleurige variƫteit van chalcedoon, die wordt gekenmerkt door zijn fijne bandstructuren en gelaagde patronen. De kleuren ontstaan door verschillende mineralen die tijdens de vorming in lagen zijn afgezet. Agaat wordt al duizenden jaren gebruikt voor sieraden en decoratie vanwege zijn aantrekkelijke uiterlijk en grote variatie in vormen.
Major deposits include Brazil, Uruguay, India, the United States and Madagascar. Agate forms in volcanic rocks and is often found in geodes. Its chemical formula is SiOā, as it is a form of quartz. Agate has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale.
Bekende varianten: Botswana Agaat, Crazy Lace Agaat, Mosagaat en Bloem Agaat zijn enkele populaire en veelgevraagde types, elk met een eigen karakteristiek patroon en kleurstelling.
