Druzy Pyrite Silver Pendant
Druzy Pyrite Silver Pendant from India
Pyrite
Pyrite, also known as "fool's gold", is an iron sulphide known for its metallic luster and golden-yellow colour. It often forms cubic or pentagonal dodecahedral crystals and occurs in a wide range of geological environments. Due to its appearance, pyrite was frequently mistaken for real gold in the past, although it has a very different composition and hardness.
Pyrite is found worldwide, with important deposits in Spain, Peru, Italy, the United States and China. It occurs in magmatic as well as sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. Its chemical formula is FeSâ‚‚ and its hardness is 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.
