Agate End on Standard from Brazil

Agate on Standard

This Agate has been cut, polished and placed on a black coated stand. We have three variants in our range: Agate Geode on Standard, Agate End on Stand and Agate on Standard.

An Agate Geode usually has an opening with visible crystal formation. An Agate End (the end piece of a geode) is usually solid and has no opening, but may very occasionally contain slight crystal formation. The Agate on Standard is completely solid and therefore generally looks more monotonous than an Agate End.

All variants are available in size S and M:

Size S: height 12-15 cm (including stand). The base of the stand is 5 × 7 cm.
Size M: height 14-17 cm (including stand). The base of the stand is 7 × 9 cm.

Small imperfections or light scratches on the black stand cannot always be avoided.

Agate

Agate is a multicoloured variety of chalcedony, characterised by its fine band structures and layered patterns. The colours result from different minerals deposited in layers during formation. Agate has been used for jewellery and decoration for thousands of years because of its attractive appearance and wide variety of shapes.

Major deposits include Brazil, Uruguay, India, the United States and Madagascar. Agate forms in volcanic rocks and is often found in geodes. Its chemical formula is SiOâ‚‚, as it is a form of quartz. Agate has a hardness of 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale.

Known variants: Botswana Agate, Crazy Lace Agate, Moss Agate and Flower Agate are some popular and in demand types, each with its own distinctive pattern and colouring.
