Raw Cavansite
Raw Cavansite from India
Cavansite is a distinctive and relatively rare mineral with a characteristic intense blue to turquoise colour. The mineral belongs to the phyllosilicate group and contains, amongst other elements, calcium, vanadium and silicon. Its characteristic colour and crystal structure give cavansite a striking appearance.
The mineral is mainly found in India, where it often occurs as spherical crystal clusters on a matrix of stilbite or other zeolites. The combination of the vivid blue crystals and the light-coloured matrix makes each specimen unique.
The stone usually has a white to cream base colour with natural dark inclusions. When light falls on the stone from the right angle, striking blue, golden and sometimes colourful flashes of colour can become visible. This remarkable play of light makes every specimen unique.
