The exact site of these pieces concerns the well-known Victoria mine in Navajún, Spain. Pyrite is an iron and sulphur ore. It often forms euhedral (cubic) crystals with a gold-like luster. A common nickname is "fool's gold" because it was sometimes mistaken for gold in the past.
