Aquamarine Pierced Pendant
Aquamarine Pierced Pendant from China
Aquamarine
Aquamarine is the blue-green variety of the mineral beril and is known for its bright, watery colour reminiscent of the sea. The name is derived from the Latin "aqua marina", meaning sea water. The colour results from traces of iron in the crystal structure and ranges from light blue to light green.
Aquamarine occurs worldwide, with important deposits in Brazil, Pakistan, Madagascar, Russia and Nigeria. Like other berils, it has the chemical formula Be₃Al₂Si₆O₁₈ and crystallises in the hexagonal system. Its hardness is 7.5 to 8 on the Mohs scale, making it well suited for use in jewellery.

Pierced Pendants
Pierced pendants are polished and cut (precious) stones with a drill hole, making them easy to wear on a cord or chain. This makes them a popular choice for jewellery. In most cases, the pendants are pierced widthwise, from left to right.
The pierced pendants are available in various shapes and sizes, including drop, oval, point and heart. Some of the range is manufactured in China, while other pendants come from Madagascar. The pierced diameter varies by model and is usually between 2 and 4 mm. We sell the pierced pendants individually, with some having a minimum order of 5 pieces. Unfortunately, we do not currently have any matching cord or chain in our range!
